Indian Air Force invites men and woman candidates from Indian citizens to be a part of the Indian air force as Commissioned Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. All candidates applying for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for acknowledgement to the examination. Interested and eligible candidates can read full notification and submit online application from 02 DEC 2024 (11:00 HRS) to 31 DEC 2024 (23:30 HRS).

Indian Air Force has fixed the date to apply online for its AFCAT examination. Therefore candidates are advised to apply within the given time period by authority.

The vacancies listed are provisional and may change without prior notice by IAF. The final intake will be influenced by the needs of the organization, different control mechanisms for personnel, the availability of training slots, and the actual number of openings that arise in January 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Air Force Recruitment 2025

Recruitment Commission has set different age limit and education qualification requirements for Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) recruitment.

Age Limit

Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: To apply for the Flying Branch through the AFCAT and NCC Special Entry, candidates should be between 20 to 24 years old as of January 1, 2026. This means you should have been born between 2 January 2002, and 1 January 2006 (inclusive). If you hold a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by the DGCA (India), the upper age limit is relaxed to 26 years. In that case, you should have been born between 2 January 2000, and 1 January 2006 (inclusive).

Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: Candidates must be between 20 to 26 years old as of 1 January 2026, meaning those born from 2 January 2000, to 1 January 2006, are eligible to apply.

Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried during the commencement of recruitment process.

Education Qualification for Indian Air Force Recruitment 2025

Flying Branch:
Candidates should be 10+2 with minimum 50% marks in Match and Physics.
and
i) Graduation with minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from recognized university.
or
ii) BE/ B Tech degree with Four years course with 60% marks from a recognized University.
or
iii) Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:

a) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}:
10+2 with 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics and a minimum of four years degree graduation/ integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University OR Candidates should have successfully completed the Sections A and B examinations for the Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India), the Aeronautical Society of India, or the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. This should be achieved through actual studies, with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent qualification in the following disciplines:

  • Communication Engineering.
  • Computer Engineering/Technology.
  • Computer Engineering & Application.
  • Computer Science and Engineering/Technology.
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering.

b) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}:
10+2 with 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics and minimum four years degree graduation/ integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University OR Candidates should have successfully completed Sections A & B of the Associate Membership examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India. This should be through actual studies, achieving at least 60% marks or an equivalent level in the relevant fields:

  • Aerospace Engineering.
  • Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering and Automation.
  • Mechanical Engineering (Production).
  • Mechanical Engineering (Repair and Maintenance).

  • Industrial Engineering.
  • Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Production and Industrial Engineering

Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches:

a) Weapon Systems (WS) Branch:
10+2 with minimum 50% marks each in Mathematics and Physics and Graduation with 60% marks OR BE/ B Tech degree (Four years course) with minimum 60% marks from a recognized University.

b) Administration& Logistics:
10+2 Passed and Graduation with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university OR cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognised university.

c) Accounts Branch:
10+20 and Graduation from recognized university with 60% marks in any of the following streams:

  • B. Com Degree (Min three years course).
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with specialization in Finance)
  • Qualified CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA.
  • B.Sc. with specialization in Finance.

d) Education:
10+20 and Post Graduation with 50% marks including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline from recognized university.

e) Meteorology:
10+2 and B Sc with minimum 60% marks in Physics and Mathematics or four year Graduation in Engineering/ Technology discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in the following streams:

  • Communication Engineering.
  • Computer Engineering/Technology.
  • Computer Engineering and Application.
  • Computer Science and Engineering/Technology.
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • Electronics Engineering/Technology.
  • Electronics Science and Engineering.

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering.
  • Electronics and Computer Science.

Examination fee for AFCAT Entry

All eligible candidates have to pay Rs. 550/- + GST (non-refundable) as examination fee for AFCAT entry (not applicable for NCC special entry).

How to Apply for Indian Air Force Recruitment 2025

Applicants will need to fill out the Online Application form, which will include several steps along the way:

  • Start by clicking on “CANDIDATE LOGIN” on the Home page, which will direct you to the AFCAT Sign-in page.
  • Next, if you haven’t registered yet, click on “NOT YET REGISTERED? REGISTER HERE” to create your account.
  • For Sign Up, you’ll need to create a Log-in ID. Once you do this, a password will be sent to your registered email address.
  • After you complete the registration process, log in using your registered email and the password you received.
  • Log in again with your credentials.
  • You’ll need to choose your entry type: select “AFCAT” or “NCC SPECIAL ENTRY FOR FLYING BRANCH”.
  • Be sure to click on “INSTRUCTIONS” and read them carefully.
  • Once you’ve read and understood the instructions, check the box to confirm and move on to the next step.
  • In this step fill your personal and educational details and upload necessary documents and lastly make payment as your category.
  • Finally, click on “FILL APPLICATION FORM”.
